Privacy Policy Terms of Use Matching Consent

01 · Privacy

MATTTCHES Privacy Policy

Effective date: 10 September 2026

The short version: MATTTCHES uses your information to help create consent-based, real-world connections. We do not sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising. You control matching and contact sharing, and you can export or delete your account from the app.

1. Who we are

MATTTCHES provides an iPhone app and related services for event-based friendship and community connection. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to ignite@matttches.com.

2. Information we collect

Account and identity

We process an account identifier and authentication information needed to create, secure, restore, and delete your account. Depending on the sign-in method available in a release, this may include an email address or provider identifier.

Profile and matching information

We process your display name, date of birth, gender, the genders you are comfortable meeting, and your age-group matching preferences. We use these choices to check adult eligibility and apply matching boundaries. You may also provide a profile photo, interests, values, life experiences, communication preferences, friendship context, event choices, and matching-consent choices. Private source material is kept separate from the limited information shown to other members.

Faith and spirituality

If you choose to provide faith or spirituality information, we process your selected religion or spiritual identity, denomination or tradition where supported, and any private response you enter for an Other choice. Supported, confirmed choices are used as matching boundaries when Faith/Spirituality is among your top five values. You can change or remove this information; removing it while keeping Faith/Spirituality in your top five can make you ineligible for automatic matching until you answer again.

Reflections and audio

If you answer daily questions, we process the text you provide and, when you choose to record it, audio and a transcription. We use this information to provide reflection features and derive privacy-classified context. Raw reflections are not shown to other members as matching explanations.

Events, matches, and contact sharing

We process event attendance, match status, connection feedback, and your choices about whether and which contact-card fields to share. Contact details are shared only through the consent flow presented in the app.

Feedback and diagnostics

When you voluntarily report a problem, we process the report text, app and device information, and any screenshot or redacted diagnostics you choose to attach. Feedback artifacts are retained for up to 90 days unless a shorter period is operationally appropriate.

Service and device information

We process push-notification tokens, app version, operating-system and device family, feature success or failure events, approximate request timing, and similar technical information needed to operate, secure, and improve the service. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or continuous location tracking.

3. How we use information

  • provide accounts, onboarding, profiles, events, reflections, matching, notifications, and mutually consented contact sharing;
  • protect members, prevent misuse, enforce permissions, and investigate service failures;
  • respond to support requests and improve reliability and usability;
  • comply with applicable law and valid legal requests.

4. Matching and automated processing

MATTTCHES uses profile choices, matching preferences and reflection context to support connection suggestions. OpenAI assists with reflection processing, matching assessments, shared introduction text and conversation starters. Matching requests use restricted profile information and pseudonymous profile references. They may include bounded reflection answers and private life-experience context, and supported, explicitly confirmed faith or spirituality information when applicable. Free text and audio you provide may contain personal information. Original private answers and contact details are not displayed to other members as matching explanations; only selected shared context is used in introductions. A suggestion is not a guarantee of compatibility, safety, or friendship. We configure AI response requests to disable response storage where supported; this does not mean that providers retain no operational or security records.

5. Service providers and disclosure

We use service providers only to operate MATTTCHES. These may include Supabase for authentication, database, functions, and private file storage; Apple for app distribution, device services, and notifications; PostHog for limited product and reliability measurement without advertising use; OpenAI for audio transcription, reflection processing, matching assessments, introduction and conversation-starter generation, and connection-feedback summaries; Slack for private support-report delivery; and Vercel for website hosting. Providers process information under their own security and privacy obligations.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business reorganisation where appropriate safeguards apply. We do not sell personal data.

6. International processing

Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, we use contractual and technical safeguards intended to protect personal data during international processing.

7. Retention

Account, profile, event, reflection, and matching information is generally retained while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Feedback artifacts are retained for up to 90 days. Security, audit, and backup records may remain for limited operational or legal periods and are not used to recreate an active deleted account.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Review or change profile information in the app.
  • Stop profile matching without deleting your saved answers.
  • Choose whether and which contact fields to share.
  • Export available account data from Profile → Privacy & data.
  • Delete your account and associated active personal data from Profile → Privacy & data → Delete Account.
  • Contact us to ask about access, correction, objection, restriction, or another right available in your jurisdiction.

We may need to verify a request before acting on it. Some information may be retained when required by law or necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

9. Security

We use authentication, access controls, user-level data isolation, private storage, encrypted transport, limited administrative access, and data-minimisation practices. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to prevent unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or loss.

10. Children

MATTTCHES is not directed to children. Members must meet any age and eligibility requirements disclosed for the app and participating events. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate authorisation.

11. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as MATTTCHES changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required. Contact ignite@matttches.com with questions or requests.

02 · Terms

MATTTCHES Terms of Use

Effective date: 12 August 2026

Please read these terms before using MATTTCHES. By accepting them or using the service, you agree to these Terms of Use and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

1. The service

MATTTCHES is an event-based friendship and community app. It may provide profile activities, reflections, event attendance, suggested connections, prompts, notifications, feedback tools, and consent-based contact sharing. Features may change as the service develops.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be legally able to agree to these terms and must meet any age, location, invitation, ticket, or event eligibility rules shown to you. Provide accurate information, protect access to your device and account, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.

3. Community conduct

Use MATTTCHES with care and respect. You must not:

  • harass, threaten, exploit, impersonate, discriminate against, or endanger another person;
  • share unlawful, deceptive, abusive, infringing, or malicious content;
  • scrape, probe, reverse engineer, disrupt, overload, or bypass security or access controls;
  • misuse private information, screenshots, event access codes, contact details, or another member’s identity;
  • use the service for unsolicited marketing, surveillance, fraud, or unlawful activity.

We may restrict or end access when reasonably necessary to protect members, the service, or legal rights.

4. Matches, events, and personal safety

Suggested connections and prompts are invitations to conversation, not background checks or guarantees of compatibility, conduct, identity, attendance, safety, or friendship. Use your own judgement, respect boundaries, follow venue and organiser rules, and seek help from event staff or emergency services when needed. MATTTCHES is not an emergency service.

Events, venues, ticketing, and third-party services may have separate terms. Unless expressly stated, MATTTCHES does not control and is not responsible for third-party events or services.

5. Your content and choices

You retain ownership of content you provide. You give MATTTCHES a limited permission to host, process, reproduce, and display it only as needed to operate, protect, and improve the service in accordance with the Privacy Policy and your consent choices. You are responsible for having the right to provide that content.

Private reflections and profile source material are not promises of public visibility. Contact details are shared only through the choices shown in the app.

6. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we process, why, which providers assist us, and the controls available to you.

7. Account deletion

You may initiate permanent deletion in the app through Profile → Privacy & data → Delete Account. Deletion removes the account and associated active personal data that we are not legally required to retain. Deletion cannot be undone.

8. MATTTCHES content and intellectual property

The app, website, branding, designs, software, prompts, and service content supplied by MATTTCHES are owned by or licensed to MATTTCHES and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose. They do not transfer ownership.

9. Availability and changes

We may maintain, change, suspend, or discontinue features. We do not promise that the service will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every device. We may update these terms and will provide notice where required. Continued use after an effective update means you accept the updated terms where permitted by law.

10. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, MATTTCHES is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties that can lawfully be disclaimed, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, MATTTCHES is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for conduct of members, organisers, venues, or other third parties. Any limitation applies only to the extent allowed in your jurisdiction and does not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. General terms

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a legitimate business reorganisation. Applicable mandatory consumer and data-protection laws continue to apply.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to ignite@matttches.com.

03 · Consent

Matching Consent

Current app agreement

By accepting, you allow MATTTCHES to use eligible profile information to consider you for friendship matches.

What matching uses

Only profile information you choose to provide and that is approved for matching. If Faith/Spirituality is in your top five values, an eligible confirmed faith or spirituality identity forms an exact-match safety boundary and may be sent to our AI provider for eligible pairs.

How faith information affects matching

Faith identity does not add points, weight, or retrieval priority. Broad-v2 matching requires the same supported broad faith or spirituality category; Broad-v2 Other is not eligible for automatic matching. A legacy catalog-v1 answer keeps its exact religion and, where applicable, denomination or tradition boundary until you explicitly update to broad v2. Faith identity may appear in your revealed profile and in an explanation only when Faith/Spirituality is the Golden Thread’s primary values foundation.

What stays private

Private reflections and notes are excluded from matching. Private text entered for Other is not sent to the AI provider and cannot make an ineligible Other answer eligible for automatic matching.

Your control

You can stop profile matching at any time from Account & Data in your profile.
